The Fossil Tree Bed & Breakfast has been tastefully appointed to give its guests a comfortable, relaxed & friendly “home from home” B&B (Located to the right of the castle above) with views over the Norman Church of  St Thomas’s (Pictured below) dating from 1200 AD and our B&B also uniquely looks directly onto the famous 250 Million year old giant Fossil tree (pictured below)

Due to its perfect location within the market place of Stanhope, you are within a stone’s throw of all of the village amenities including 3 of the 4 village pubs The first being The Pack Horse (Pictured below) which serves an excellent array of keenly priced beers, wines & spirits and Meals,  the second being The Bonny Moor Hen (Pictured below) which serves sensibly priced meals, as well as everyone’s favourite tipple it also hosts live music & singers to suit everyone’s tastes. The third village pub is the Queens head which is located approx 300 yards away as is the local sports & Social club. The 4th pub is the Grey Bull approx 5mins walk & serves good beer & hosts regular live music night.

Stanhope  Market Place  & front street offer visitors a good selection of shops built in local stone including the well stocked co-op for all of your general requirements , newsagents, craft shop, “Weardale”rug makers, post office, Antique Shop, bakery – try the cakes in the tea room !, specialist butchers (We recommend his home made sausages – once tasted never forgotten) pubs, banks , Chemist, cafe’s & take away.
